NACTAL PARTICIPATES IN STAKESHOLDERS MEETING TO DISCUSS ISSUES AFFECTING THE GIRL CHILD IN NIGERIA
Yesterday 10th September 2024, the Project Officer and Logistic Officer Serah Aboki represented NACTAL at a stakeholders meeting organized by National Coalition of Civil Society to End Child Marriage in Nigeria to discuss the situation of the girl child in Nigeria.
The event which took place at Daughters of Abraham, Abuja brought Civil Society Organization (CSOs) and networks that work in the areas that include education, health, and social services to deliberate on the challenges faced by girls and to explore collaborative solutions to address these issues effectively.
Highlights of the event include
- The overview of the Coalition
- Discussion on the situation of the girl child in Nigeria
- Participants grouping to discuss on priorities and action points aimed at improving Education and Skill development, Protection, Health and wellbeing and Legal Aids for the girl child.
Notable action points from the discussion include the need for educating the girl child on their rights, creating more safe spaces, Skill empowerment and sustainability, and increased sensitization.
